Following the announcement of Pikmin 3 Deluxe for Switch, a teaser website for the game has gone live with an important piece of information for Switch Lite owners.
According to the fine print at the very bottom of the site, those who own a Switch Lite will need a set of detached Joy-con controllers in order to play Pikmin 3 Deluxe. You can read the exact disclaimer for yourself below:
What’s odd about this statement is that the game’s Switch eShop listing clearly states that the game supports handheld mode – so it should rightfully function on a Switch Lite without needing extra controllers.
We’ll follow up with an update if we hear more.
UPDATE: It’s since been noted by some folks that the teaser site also has an asterisk (*) when describing its multiplayer gameplay (see below), and that Nintendo possibly forgot to add a similar asterisk to the fine print reported above.
If this is the case, then the line about requiring detached Joy-Con controllers on Switch Lite is most likely referring to the second player for multiplayer gameplay.
As of the time of writing, however, Nintendo has not corrected this apparent slip-up on the teaser site. Nevertheless, we have updated this post to better reflect this possibility.
