After much fan speculation, The Pokemon Company has confirmed that Pokemon Champions will be used for the next Pokemon World Championships tournament.

As detailed during the closing ceremony of this year’s event, Pokemon Champions will be the main game used for the competitive game battling portion of the tournament. It will also support Mega Evolution as a mechanic, including new Megas introduced in Pokemon Legends Z-A.

Pokemon World Championships 2026 was also confirmed to take place in San Francisco, and will include a new initiative called PokemonXP, although not much further details were shared.
