Pokemon Company Clarifies Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee’s Online Features, Interaction With Friends Only
When Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee was announced, there was a lot of confusion about the game’s online features and functions, with a few flip-flops here and there. However, The Pokemon Company has come out to firm up the game’s online features.
First thing first, although trading and battling with friends is possible, there will not be a Global Trade System or Battle Spot in the game. Meaning you won’t be able to trade or battle with strangers. If you choose to interact with your friend over the internet (not locally), you will have to pay for Nintendo Switch Online.
In a statement to Game Informer, the Pokemon Company said:
Players will only be able to battle and trade Pokémon with their friends. “There is no GTS, Wonder Trade, or Battle Spot (Rating Battle, Free Battle, and Online Competition, etc.),” the company said. Players will also need to sign up for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to access them.
Looks like it is all back to basics for Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee.
