Earlier this weekend, fans began to show their appreciation for the Pokemon series developers by boosting the hashtag #ThankYouGameFreak to trending status in the US. Since then, it’s jumped to trending status in other countries as well – and it looks like the folks at Game Freak have taken notice.
In particular, Pokemon Sword/Shield director Shigeru Ohmori tweeted an appreciative response to the trending tag. Of course, he was happy at the support that fans expressed – and stated that he was looking forward to the game launching this coming Friday.
You can take a look at his words below, along with a rough translation:
“#ThankYouGameFreak became a trending topic worldwide*!? I’m so happy! 5 days left to Pokemon Sword and Shield. I’m looking forward to playing with everyone!”
We’ll report back if we hear more in the future. Pokemon Sword/Shield will be hitting Nintendo Switch on 15 November 2019.
