Pokemon GO Earns $270 Million In First Four Months Of 2019, A 33% Jump Compared To Same Period In 2018

It looks like Pokemon GO is far from losing its momentum in the mobile market.

The AR-based spin-off game is still raking in the big bucks worldwide. According to a new Sensor Tower report, the game is more or less outperforming itself since 2018. Namely, player spending in the first four months of 2019 amounted to a whopping $270 million – which is a 33% increase compared to the first four months of 2018. Likewise, Pokemon GO brought in $65 million in April 2019 alone, which was a 15% bump compared to April 2018.

Check out the full details below.

  • Players spent more than $65 million worldwide in the game during April 2019.
    • This is an increase of 15 percent from the same month in 2018.
  • So far in 2019, spending in the game hit approximately $270 million across the App Store and Google Play.
    • This is a 33% increase compared to the first four months of 2018, when it brought in close to $203.5 million.
  • Players in the United States and Japan have spent nearly the same in 2019 to date at about 34 percent of this total.
    • During the same period in early 2018, Japanese players outspent their U.S. counterparts by about three percentage points.
  • Pokémon GO ranked No. 7 for all app revenue worldwide last month, compared to No. 10 in April 2018.
  • Pokemon GO was ranked No. 6 among games.

These are certainly robust trends for a game that many people originally called a fad back in its launch year of 2016. We’ll report back with future financial updates on the game when we hear more.
