Ready to hop into Pokemon Day? Here’s another look at the festivities you’ll be able to enjoy while on the move!
Niantic has released a new trailer showing off its tie-in celebration events in Pokemon GO – which will see the return of Armored Mewtwo raids and the addition of Clone Pokemon encounters. As reported previously, players will also meet Pokemon with party hats such as Pikachu, Eevee, and more!
If you need to catch up, check out the official trailer for the event and a quick synopsis for more details:
Pokémon Day is almost here, but the festivities are kicking off a bit early in Pokémon GO. From Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST to Monday, March 2, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST, you can take part in the Pokémon Day Celebration event, featuring Armored Mewtwo and Clone Pokémon in Raid Battles and with party-hat Pokémon galore!
Mewtwo Strikes Back
The Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo is the star of the latest Pokémon animated movie, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution, which arrives on Netflix on Pokémon Day, February 27, 2020. To commemorate the occasion, Armored Mewtwo will return to Pokémon GO in five-star raids during the Pokémon Day Celebration event, and this time it’ll know the exclusive Charged Attack Psystrike! If you need a little assistance taking down this powerful Pokémon, check out our strategy guide for catching Armored Mewtwo in Pokémon GO.
You’ll also be able to encounter Clone Pokémon in Pokémon GO. Look for Clone Pokémon like Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise in four-star raids. If you use GO Snapshot during the event, a Clone Pokémon might even appear in your photo, and you might be able to catch it.
Pokémon Are Ready to Party
Keep a lookout for Pikachu and Eevee wearing party hats appearing in the wild—plus, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle with party hats will be hatching from 7 km Eggs and appearing in one-star raids. There’s a chance you’ll come across Shiny versions of these partying Pokémon, too. In addition to all this, you’ll be able to make up to two special trades per day during the event.
A Classic Confrontation
If you’ve ever played Pokémon Red, you might recall the iconic intro sequence that features Nidorino battling Gengar. That beloved moment will be honored during Pokémon GO’s Pokémon Day Celebration in a Raid Day event on Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone.
During this time, Nidorino wearing party hats will be appearing in two-star raids, and party hat–wearing Gengar that know Lick and Psychic will be appearing in four-star raids. If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Nidorino or Shiny Gengar wearing a party hat!
To tackle more raids during this time frame, you can receive up to five Raid Passes at no cost during the Raid Day event by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms. Be sure to use each Raid Pass, though—you can hold only one at a time, and they will not be available after the Raid Day ends.
There’s a lot to do in Pokémon GO during the Pokémon Day Celebration event, so get out there and have fun, Trainers!
