Pokemon Legends Z-A Will Be Compatible With Pokemon HOME In 2026

The Pokemon Company has announced when Pokemon Legends Z-A will be compatible with Pokemon HOME.

Players will be able to transfer Pokemon to and from Pokemon Legends Z-A to Pokemon HOME in 2026. However, the official website includes the following disclaimers:

  • Pokémon you befriend in Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A cannot be taken to previous Pokémon games.
  • Even if you have befriended a Pokémon in previous Pokémon games, once you bring it to Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A, you will no longer be able to bring it back to previous Pokémon games.

This is a stark reversal of how Pokemon HOME has been working with other Pokemon titles on the Switch, which allow players to transfer Pokemon freely across current and previous titles. It is possible that Pokemon Legends Z-A is considered a “next generation” title on account of being available on Switch 2, meaning that it would only be compatible for transfers with future games that are on that console.
