Big news – it seems that Nintendo and Game Freak were planning to release Pokemon Pink for the Game Boy, but it was somehow cancelled.
The revelation comes as the original source code for Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Yellow were leaked on 4chan. Pokemon historian Dr. Lava found traces of “Pokemon Pink” being referenced in the source code, hence leading him to believe that Pokemon Pink was going to be a companion game to Pokemon Yellow but was scrapped.
As to who the cover Pokemon was going to be for Pokemon Pink, SnorlaxMonster speculates that it could be Clefairy, as there was a Japan-only frame featuring Pikachu and Clefairy in Game Boy Camera:
I've seen this Japan-only Game Boy Camera frame go around a lot recently (in reference to this). It may have been created at the time when Pokémon Pink was still planned to exist.https://t.co/j7O9FMUvsz pic.twitter.com/CM2oW06COo

Also revealed in the leak were prototype maps from the first generation of Pokemon:

More about yesterday's leak of Blue & Yellow source code that I mentioned in my last 2 tweets. The leak also included Gen 1 prototype maps, like the one seen below. This new leak is still being picked apart, so I'll tweet more about it this week. pic.twitter.com/1Ri861S6QL
