Ambrella, a Japanese game developer known for working on many Pokemon spin-off games, has been acquired and disbanded by Creatures. Inc.
Ambrella was the studio behind the Pokemon Rumble series, Hey You! Pikachu, Pokemon Channel, My Pokemon Ranch, and a few other Pokemon spin-off titles. Its most recent outing was Pokemon Rumble Rush, which was shut down last year.
According to the official announcement, Creatures .Inc acquired Ambrella towards the end of 2020. Creatures .Inc will take owneership of the property rights for all of Ambrella’s projects, and the studio will be disbanded as a result.
For those who may not be aware, Creatures .Inc is one of the three owners of the Pokemon Company along with Nintendo and Game Freak. Creatures is best known for managing the Pokemon Trading Card Game and developing a few other Pokemon related titles.
At the time of this writing, it is uncertain what this acquisition means for Ambrella’s Pokemon spin-offs, but we will be sure to report back with more info as it comes.
