Producer Takashi Tezuka Is Retiring From Nintendo

Takashi Tezuka, a legendary producer at Nintendo, is retiring from his position as an Executive Officer at the company this June.

The news was announced via one of Nintendo’s press releases, which includes changes in personnel for a number of other roles in the company as well. Tezuka however is the name that most Nintendo fans would be the most familiar with, being responsible for directing many classic titles such as Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Mario World 2. He also served as a producer for most of the Super Mario series, as well as for Yoshi, Luigi’s Mansion, Animal Crossing, and more.

Tezuka will be turning 66 this year, and this likely marks the end of his professional career. He is the latest of Nintendo’s old guard to be leaving the company in recent months, many of whom have also retired or moved on to new ventures.
