Prototype For Unreleased Spider-Man 4 Game On The Wii Surfaces Online

Throughout the years, the videogame industry has seen numerous planned titles and game prototypes that never manage to make it to store shelves. Today one of these cancelled projects has surfaced online: Eurocom’s Spider-Man 4 for the Wii.

This prototype for Spider-Man 4 was discovered on an RVT-H Wii development kit, and was presumably being developed as a tie-in to a planned fourth installment in the classic Sam Raimi series of Spider-man films.

As many of you may know, Raimi’s Spider-Man series was a dominant force in the superhero film genre prior to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, until the disastrous reception of the series’ third installment led to distributor Sony re-booting the franchise (twice).

Judging from the state of this prototype, development did not get far before Eurocom was told to scrap the project. It consists of two incomplete levels and supports only basic travel mechanics along with a few effects. The prototype also includes a debug mode, as well as some evidence that it was based on Dead Space: Extraction‘s engine.

If you’re interested in checking it out for yourself, the files can be downloaded here. Youtuber Hard4Games has also published a video on the prototype which you can watch below:
