Although The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom is one of the few games in the series that places Princess Zelda as the main playable character, players have discovered a new glitch that lets them play as Link instead.
The glitch was shared by content creator alyo on YouTube. By performing some specific steps near the beginning of the game, players can restart the game while becoming the Link character that they were controlling during the prologue. You can check out Alyo’s video on the process below, along with some written steps.
- Start a brand new file.
- Save as soon as you can control Link, once you enter the Suthorn Ruins.
- Play the game through the first dungeon.
- Make sure you have the Sign echo and head to Kakariko Village. Go out of the east gate and go up to the forest area, jumping on top of the trees. Try and keep an enemy near you or remember its location, you’ll need it soon.
- Your goal is to get as close to being “reset” as possible, placing a Sign on top of the tree, and hitting the sign while reading it, while ALSO opening the menu.
- Once you’ve opened the menu, you can move around on the minimap. The goal is to get an enemy to kill you, sending you to the Game Over screen.
- Once on the Game Over screen, you’ll be prompted to load a save file. You’ll select the Suthorn Ruins save, and once it goes dark, you’ll immediately hit the Up and A buttons.
- If you’re successful, you’ll be able to resume the game as Link, rather than Zelda!
At the time of this writing, it is uncertain whether this exploit will be patched out in the future. That said, it doesn’t seem like players will be able to complete the game this way, although its still a cool glitch nonetheless.
