For some time, both Nintendo and fans have toyed with the possibility of The Legend of Zelda‘s titular princess taking on a more active role like the series’ hero Link – with some games even introducing a female rendition of Link or having Zelda join Link on his quest. Some fans have even poked fun at the idea of both Zelda and Link completely switching positions as Princess and Hero entirely – and today’s example is no exception!
Twitter user @mivic_art, who specializes in both animation clips and illustrations, recently shared some fun fan-art of “Princess Link” – which depicts Link in role of Hyrule’s princess in various eras of The Legend of Zelda series instead. And yes, that includes donning some royal dresses.
Check it out in full below:
It’s a fun inversion by the artist, and it would certainly be interesting to see them depict Zelda in Link’s heroic role instead. While we’ll probably never see Nintendo truly invert the status quo between Link and Zelda as Hyrule’s hero and princess, we can always rely on fans to mess around with the concept in unique ways.
