A summary of what former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime shared at his Cornell lecture has been compiled by ResetERA user Theorymon.
During the lecture, Reggie Fils-Aime briefly touched on late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. Reggie called Iwata a “mentor figure” who taught him the value of “silence”, which not many businesses in the west have. The former leaders seem to be close and personal friends based on the way Reggie talked about Iwata.
Reggie also mentioned that Iwata initially disagreed with his idea of bundling Wii Sports with the Wii in the US. Eventually Iwata gave in and thus Wii Sports was packaged with every Wii in the west.
One of the slides that appeared during Reggie’s lecture was Iwata behind a calligraphy of the words “Dokusou”, which means “to create something unique”. Reggie briefly explained the meaning behind these words, which were also explained by Iwata in a Nintendo Direct many years ago.
