Retail Buyer Hints At Absolutely Huge Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Shipment In Japan
It seems that the Nintendo Switch 2 launch shipment in Japan is going to be huge, even though official shipment numbers haven’t been officially disclosed by Nintendo yet.
@segamega99, a Twitter account widely speculated to belong to a purchaser of video game products for a Japanese retailer for years, made some comments today regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 launch shipment.
They claimed that Nintendo Switch 2 allocations for hardware, software, and accessories were completed last weekend (April 19 – April 20, 2025) for the Japanese market. Comparing the allocations to a “certain console” (most likely referring to Nintendo Switch), they personally thought the Switch’s launch shipment is “simply no match” to the Switch 2, and thinks that scalping won’t be a problem especially if the Switch 2 doesn’t “explosively sell”.
The purchaser’s comments shouldn’t come as a surprise as it’s been rumored that the Nintendo Switch 2 launch shipment is 3 times higher than that of the Nintendo Switch in France, and Bloomberg has previously reported similarly for US shipments.
