Last year, several rumors surfaced claiming that the successor to the Nintendo Switch was coming very soon, with some claiming that dev kits for the new console were already in the hands of developers.
Now, some new evidence supporting this claim has appeared. It comes via the 12th annual State of the Game Industry survey held by the Game Developers Conference. This survey was held between October 11th to October 23rd 2023, and polled over 3000 anonymous game industry professionals on various topics.
Among the questions were “Which platform(s) most interest you as a developer?” and “What platform(s) are you developing your current project for?”, which has some interesting results for Nintendo fans:
As seen in the charts above, around 32% of the respondents expressed interest in the successor to the Switch, but more importantly, 8% of them claim that they are actively developing their current project for the unannounced console. That said, it is not clear whether these developers are doing this knowing that the Switch successor is coming soon, or if they are operating on speculation and guesswork based on the current rumors circulating.
As always, we caution readers to interpret this information with a grain of salt, we will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
