A classic installment of the popular Call Of Duty FPS franchise could be heading to Switch, if this new rumor is to be believed.
The rumor comes via Call Of Duty leaker and insider RalphsValve, who claims that Activision is planning to release a number of remastered titles from the Call Of Duty series on newer consoles, in an attempt to tide over the gaps between “premium” titles. According to Smith, one of the projects is bringing the 2016 remaster of Call Of Duty Modern Warfare to Switch, which would be the first time the series has graced the hybrid console.
This rumor comes shortly after Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard, after which Microsoft President Brad Smith seemingly confirmed the publisher’s intention to bring Call Of Duty to Nintendo devices, in an interview with CNBC. The relevant excerpt from the interview can be found below:
One of the things we’re being very clear about as we move forward with the regulatory review of this acquisition is that great titles like Call of Duty from Activision Blizzard today, will continue to be available on the Sony PlayStation.
We’d like to bring it to Nintendo devices. We’d like to bring the other popular titles that Activision has, and ensure that they continue to be available on PlayStation, [and] that they become available on Nintendo.
Of course, without an official announcement, we caution readers to take this rumor with a grain of salt. We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
