Rumor: Japanese Flyer Hints At Co-Op Mode For Mario Maker 2

An interesting flyer has been discovered by a Reddit user living in Japan which could hint towards a co-op mode for Mario Maker 2.

The flyer in question seems to be an ad for last February’s Nintendo Direct. The flyer showcases the various announcements from the direct, including an ad for Mario Maker 2.

Next to the Mario Maker 2 ad is an the 8-bit sprite of Luigi in the bottom right corner. This sprite is apparently an updated version of the sprite from Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, where Luigi’s sprite was changed so that he would look different from Mario when they picked up the fire flower.

Some fans believe that the inclusion of Luigi’s new sprite in the above flyer implies that Mario Maker 2 will feature a two-player co-op mode. This is because there would be little reason for Nintendo to use this version of Luigi’s sprite, unless it was so that players could tell who was who when both Mario and Luigi pick up a fire flower in co-op. That said, there is no official confirmation yet so take this info with a grain of salt. We will be sure to post an update when more news surfaces.

What do you think? Do you agree with this reasoning? Would you like Mario Maker 2 to feature a co-op mode? Let us know in the comments below.
