Following rumors from Microsoft and Playstation, a new report has surfaced suggesting another major manufacturer might be throwing their hat in the handheld ring.
As reported by 91Mobiles, South Korean tech giant Samsung has filed a patent with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for an “electronic games console”. The patent includes some sketches of the product, which looks similar to one of Samsung’s foldable smartphones.
That said, the patent is attributed to “Samsung Display”, which produces displays for a variety of other products, including the Nintendo Switch. Its possible that Samsung itself isn’t working on the console, but is developing the foldable display on behalf of another company. Furthermore, not every patented device eventually becomes a released product, so its possible that this concept device never sees the light of day.
As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take them with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
