Rumor: Surprising Crossover Characters Leaked For Sonic Crossworlds
Some new leaks have surfaced online hinting at some shocking crossover racers for Sonic Crossworlds.
The leaks were posted by X/Twitter user “F2Insider”, and include screenshots, videos, and concept art for multiple crossover characters seemingly being developed for the title. Many of them are surprisingly not from SEGA’s videogame franchises, and include Spongebob Squarepants, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Minecraft and NiGHTS.
In particular, Spongebob Squarepants is confirmed to be a playable racer with his own course based on Bikini Bottom, with video footage presented as evidence:

As the three cartoon franchises are associated with Nickelodeon, these crossovers are presumably made possible due to SEGA’s ongoing collaboration with Nickelodeon’s parent company Paramount on the Sonic The Hedgehog film series. You can find a summary of what has been leaked so far below, via Sonic Stadium:
- Videos show off Spongebob is a playable character. One video shows a Bikini Bottom racetrack featuring multiple locations from the series. Another shows Spongebob driving a Krabby Patty car, basically a big cheeseburger with a spoiler. There are also animations of a bubble-spewing foghorn item in the style of Spongebob’s alarm clock.
- One screenshot shows Alex from Minecraft piloting a minecart from the game.
- Developer notes and concept art shows a version of the TMNT Party Wagon, and discusses portions of a New York race track.
- Concept art shows Aang on a hoverboard inspired by his fan glider. Designer notes show screenshots of a track spanning Lion Turtle Islands through to the Southern Air Temple. The track seems to include “bending” gates that let players open up additional paths based on the element.
- A presentation slide suggests a possible NiGHTS collaboration, though it seems to be focused on team mechanics rather than any stage, character, or track. In the HUD, 12 characters are sorted into groups of four under images of NiGHTS, Reala, and a Nightopian.
- Though there are no videos or screens shown, F2Insider says that there will eventually be a Hatsune Miku collaboration.
- A handful of previously unseen board designs seem to suggest elements from the IDW comic series might be involved. One has the boards features the eye design from Whisper’s mask.
- Several other tracks and sub-tracks were shown in the various Spongebob videos, including one based on the Cyberspace City from Frontiers, Dragon Road from Unleashed, and some sort of car factory.
At the time of this writing, SEGA has not made any official announcement for these crossovers. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
