Rumor: Switch Successor Now Aiming For March 2025 Launch
Last week, rumors surfaced hinting that the successor to the Nintendo Switch had been internally delayed to 2025 from its original 2024 launch window.
Now, a new report supporting this claim has appeared, released by Japanese publication Nikkei. The publication’s sources claim that Nintendo is now targeting a March 2025 launch for the console, and delayed it to “ensure the initial inventory of the successor console and a lineup of software titles at the time of its launch” (translated via VGC).
To put in simpler terms, Nintendo seemingly delayed the launch of the Switch successor to prevent the same kind of shortages and scalping issues faced by rival consoles, as well as to prepare a more substantial lineup of launch titles for the new console. Nikkei goes on to speculate that Nintendo might delay the successor’s release beyond March 2025 if the above goals are not met.
That said, we caution readers to take this information with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
