Rumor: Updated eShop Webpages Sparks Speculation Of Upcoming Nintendo Direct

As of January 2023, it has been five months since the last videogame focused Nintendo Direct in September 2022, leaving many wondering when the next one will be aired.

Recently, speculation about an impending Nintendo Direct has flared up thanks to some updates on the Nintendo eshop. As pointed out by user daybreak on Famiboards, the eshop sites for Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp and The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were freshly updated with new NSUIDs, which is typically done when pre-orders are about to go live for specific games. Daybreak credits this discovery to lbabinz on Twitter, albeit through a Discord chat.

[EDIT] Since this is garnering more attention than I thought it would: I would assume the NSUID update would line up with pre-orders as it has with other games, and pre-orders would likely line up with a Direct for TotK. I’m not sure it means one is super imminent – Nintendo could also just make a tweet. [/EDIT]

The Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp and Tears of the Kingdom eShop web pages just popped changes with new NSUIDs attached to both (or, at least, on the Canadian eShop pages).

Credit goes to lbabinz on Twitter for monitoring these pages for changes (he did not post about these changes, they’re from a Discord chat).

Tears of the Kingdom

Tears of the Kingdom previously did not have a NSUID. It now having a NSUID means pre-orders will be going live at some point in the future, potentially in the near future.

I would think it’s safe to assume pre-orders opening would line up with a Direct.

That said, as of this writing, Nintendo has yet to make any official announcement regarding a new Nintendo Direct Presentation. Furthermore, given Nintendo has been trending towards shadowdropping announcements as of late, its also possible that updates regarding these two titles will take that form as opposed to a full Direct.

Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
