M.video-eldorado, the largest video game retailer in Russia, has published a report on the state of the Russian video game market in the first half of 2018.
Overall, the video game industry has grown in Russia by 36%. What’s more interesting is how Nintendo performed in the first half of 2018 – sales have increased by 137%, and sales in terms of units sold increased by 250%. Keep in mind the figures factor in all hardware and software sales from Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, and the Nintendo Classic Mini line.
Finally, we’ve learned that Nintendo had a 18% market share in Russia in the first half of 2018. While it’s still a far cry from Sony’s 65%, Nintendo has overtaken Microsoft’s 17% market share.
