For the past several weeks, Masahiro Sakurai has been posting a series of personal screenshots he took of Super Smash Bros Ultimate during its development.
In one of last week’s installments, Sakurai posted the following screenshot of Pit and the Inkling girl, which sparked a wave of speculation from fans.
Specifically, they noticed that the stage they were on looked like the Battlefield stage from Super Smash Bros for WiiU, as opposed to the one from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Although many wrote this off as the screenshot being from an older build of Ultimate, other fans began to wonder if perhaps the WiiU version of Battlefield would be returning in Smash Ultimate as DLC. Apparently, the theory received so much traction that Sakurai felt the need to clarify that the stage in the photo “won’t be found in the final version of the game”.
