Nintendo Dream recently conducted an interview with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai to learn more about the game’s development.
In the interview, Nintendo Dream asked the director how the atmosphere was like for the development of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He summed it up in one phrase – “no need to explain at the very beginning”.
Sakurai then explained when development for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/Nintendo 3DS started, he had to explain everything to members on the development team, and even had to prepare documents for them to convey his vision and plans.
This wasn’t necessary for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as most of the team that worked on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/Nintendo 3DS at Bandai Namco moved over to work on Smash Bros. Ultimate. Sakurai says it’s a huge relief that he didn’t had to explain everything from the beginning again.
