Sakurai On The Process Of Producing Super Smash Bros Character Reveal Trailers
In a recent interview with Famitsu, Sakurai talked about the process of how animated character reveal trailers for Super Smash Bros are made.
Check out what he said in this translation from PushDustIn below:
-The trailers started with Super Smash Bros For Wii U/3DS to provide something for fans to enjoy and to build buzz around the characters reveal.
-For the CG animated trailers, Sakurai writes each scene and where they will cut to gameplay. For scenes that contain gameplay, he just notes down “there will be gameplay here”.
-Digital Frontier has animated most of the reveal trailers for Super Smash Bros For Wii U/3DS and Super Smash Bros Ultimate with Yohei Shimozawa directing them.
-Digital Frontier is given a explanation of how the CG animation should be made. They then create a storyboard and if it is approved they then go on to create a video storyboard to get the timing right.
-After finishing the sound, work is done on the models as importing them straight from the game wouldn’t feel right due to it missing a lot of detail. Work is then done on the animation and camera. Motion blur is then added after.
-Sakurai is very thankful for the work Digital Frontier has done as he is very busy with developing the game.
There is a new Sakurai column today (#583), and this time it's all about the process of making the Fighter Reveal trailers.
