Sega Talks About How An Internal Standstill Brought Sega Ages ago The Switch

Sega’s retro game collection Sega Ages is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this summer, but it was Not always going to be this way. In fact, it was thanks to stalled developments on Sega’s part that led to Sega Ages on the Nintendo Switch

In a famitsu interview, Sega Ages developers,  Rieko Kodama, Yosuke Okunari, Kagasei Shimomura, Naoki Horii, talked more about the game’s development and how it found its place on the Switch.

The game collection’s path to the Switch started out when the development team found themselves in a yearlong standstill after being unable to decide which retro games they should repackage after they had finish Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3: Final Stage.

It was during this standstill that the Switch was released and the team thought it would be great idea to focus on releasing retro Sega games on the Switch as they believed that the Switch can inherite the mantle of “Playing classic games with your hand’s grasp” from the 3DS.

Sometimes the best ideas come when you take time to nurture and think, looks like Sega fans and Switch players around really benefitted from the standstill.
