Sonic Mania Plus Announced For Physical Release

Sonic Mania, the highly acclaimed retro throwback from last year, is getting an expansion with two new playable characters.

Sonic Mania Plus, which will be getting a physical release, adds additional content to the game. The most significant is the inclusion of Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel: a couple of obscure characters that appeared in a 1993 arcade game called SegaSonic the Hedgehog. Additional changes include an all-new Encore Mode, and the ability for four players to compete in multiplayer.

Sonic Mania Plus will be getting a full retail release with a reversible cover and art book, which will be priced at $29.99. Existing players will also have the option to upgrade to Plus, although pricing has not been revealed yet.

Sonic Mania Plus will be releasing Summer 2018.
