During Square-Enix’s fiscal briefing, the company reaffirmed its commitment to making games for Nintendo Switch.
Square-Enix says they wouldn’t rule out on multi-platform titles that they have made on PS4 and Xbox One coming to Nintendo Switch, because the core architecture of both systems are similar to the Switch. Some fine tuning may be necessary.
As for what they think about the Switch itself, Square-Enix thinks the platform’s momentum is “very strong”, Nintendo is doing great for them, and the value proposition of the system is very unique when compared to PS4 and Xbox One.
Square-Enix also says that the Switch is ideal for “middle-range” games, which are hard to “achieve business success”. They are planning to work on some for the Switch.
When asked on what kind of games they’ll bring to Switch, Square-Enix says any kind of IP is possible – new ones, active ones, and inactive ones.
