Among other achievements, Stardew Valley has earned a new pedigree on Nintendo Switch.
Along with the addition of multiplayer this week, the farming sim is actually the first third-party title to use voice-chat support on the Switch Online mobile app! If you need a refresher, here’s an excerpt from the game’s official blog:
On Nintendo Switch you’ll be able to communicate with others on your farm using the Switch online voice chat or the new chat box feature with colored text and nearly 200 custom Stardew Valley emojis.
You can also play together via local communications play, meaning that 2-4 switch consoles can connect & play together over a short distance without the need for a Nintendo Switch Online account.
Meanwhile, other third-party publishers and developers are still ignoring Nintendo’s solution to online voice-chat. Let’s just hope the feature works out well for Stardew Valley’s many fans on Nintendo Switch.
