Student Sells $80,000 Worth Of Pokemon TCG Cards To Pay For Medical School
Been collecting the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) from your childhood days? You might be holding on to some truly precious investments in your card albums – as exemplified by one enterprising young man in the US!
Caleb King, a junior at the University of North Georgia, recently made headlines by selling off some of his most highly-graded Pokemon TCG cards to fund his way towards his own studies at a medical school ! As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, King had originally purchased a whole lot of rare cards for $4,000 back in 2016 – but has now made around $80,000 on selling part of the collection to other fans.
Amazingly enough, King isn’t done funding his studies with the precious cardboard collectibles. According to an interview, he still has around $50,000 worth of cards he intends to sell online – with his most valuable card being the elusive “Red Cheeks Pikachu” from the first ever booster set, worth an estimated $20,000.
