NPD Group’s Mat Piscatella has shared some new details about the latest console ownership trends in the United States.
According to NPD Group’s latest Playerpulse surveys, over 40% of Switch owners in the US also own either a Playstation 4 or an Xbox One console. Notably, this figure is a drop from the 70% figure that was shared last year, which could mean that there are now more Switch owners using it as their primary console and forgoing the others, although that is just our speculation.
That said, Piscatella believes that these figures are quite positive for the Switch, as this means players generally see it as a “supplementary” or “companion” console to the Playstation and Xbox, meaning it is not likely to experience a dip in sales with the release of the PS5 or Series X.
