In a recent study by Purdue University, researchers Mara Faccio and John J. McConnell came to the conclusion that Pokemon Go may lead to a 26.5% increase in traffic accidents at intersections within 100 metres of a Pokestop. This conclusion was done after investigating 12,000 incident reports near Tippecanoe County, Indiana, before and after the game’s release.

According to their research, should the game not launch, a total of $498,567 additional cost of vehicle damage, 31 additional injuries, and two additional deaths across the county would have been prevented.
