Following the delay of Super Nintendo World Japan’s grand opening, an update has been shared on the status of Super Nintendo World Orlando, which was planned to be part of its upcoming Epic Universe theme park.
The update comes via the Orlando Sentinel, which reports that construction has restarted on the Epic Universe Theme park, after it had been forced to pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings was quoted stating that he was informed by Universal that the park’s grand opening was now being planned for 2025.
As a follow-up to Demings’ remarks, Universal released its own official statement about resuming construction, which you can find below:
Work is resuming on Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe, the widely anticipated theme park that will create an entirely new level of theme park entertainment. Work on Epic Universe paused in July 2020, as the company adjusted plans in the midst of the pandemic. The restart will begin immediately, but is expected to take several months before reaching full-speed as Universal restaffs for the project and reassembles its vendor and contractor teams.
