Yesterday, Nintendo announced they would be removing the SNES title Super Soccer from the Switch Online service in Japan later this month.
Now, it has been confirmed that the game will also be pulled from the western version of the service. As highlighted on social media by Oatmealdome, the game will be removed on March 27th/28th 2025, same as in Japan. Oatmealdome also notes that while the game was originally published by Nintendo outside Japan, Spike Chunsoft is the current global publisher. It is not known if this has something to do with why the game is being removed.
This is the first time in the history of the service that a game is being delisted, and has sparked concerns that other, more popular games might eventually follow suit. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
