A few months ago, Nintendo was forced to cancel their Nintendo Live Tokyo 2024 event after receiving “persistent threats” targeting employees and attendees.
According to Kyoto Shimbun (shared by 4Gamer), the suspect behind these threats has now been arrested. He was reportedly a local public servant based in Ibaraki, who used Nintendo’s contact form to send the threatening messages. At the time of this writing, his motives are still unknown, although we do know he is being charged with “obstructing Nintendo’s business” through his threats.
Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
