Earlier this month, Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing In Disguise was released on Switch, where it was subject to a number of criticisms by fans about its performance and other issues.
One of these criticisms was about its depiction of a transgendered character within the game, including moments where the wrong pronouns were used as well as instances of “deadnaming”, which refers to using a transgendered person’s pre-transition name.
In response to these criticisms, Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro released a statement on Twitter apologizing for the way this character was written. Swery explained that he did not intend the writing to come across as offensive, and only realized the potential issues after they were pointed out to him by friends. He also said he would be rewriting the scenes “ASAP”.
