Switch 2 GameChat Speech-To-Text Does Not Censor Swear Words
With the release of the Switch 2, players can now use the highly advertised GameChat feature, which adds a number of new ways for players to communicate with each other throught the console, including video and voice chat options.
However, it seems that Nintendo might have slipped up on some of GameChat’s lesser known options. As documented by David Howe on Bluesky, GameChat’s “Speech-To-Text” accessibility option does not seem to include a swear word filter, allowing players to shout curse words and have them transcribed for everyone to read with perfect accuracy.
“CONFIRMED: you can say f*** in game chat speech-to-text,”
This is a pretty glaring omission given that Nintendo often goes to great lengths to ensure that their games and systems are family friendly. It is likely that this oversight will be patched out sooner or later. Luckily, the option seems to be off by default.
