Looks like the Nintendo Switch is about to reach a very huge milestone that has never happened since 1995.
According to NPD analyst Mat Piscatella, physical Nintendo Switch software sales in the United States are on track to be the largest ever for a Nintendo console launch year since 1995, and by “a fairly large margin”.
It’s important to keep in mind that most Nintendo home consoles, such as the Wii and Wii U, launched in November of their respective launch years. Thus most Nintendo home consoles wouldn’t have as much time as the Switch, which released in March 2017, to rake up as much software sales as possible within the calendar year.
