Developer Regista has revealed a new sequel for The Demon Crystal game titled The Demon Crystal II: Knither for Switch in Japan.
The Demon Crystal debuted in 1984 for MSX and PC-88, it has seen a re-release for Switch a few months back. Now, its sequel, a re-release of the YMCAT-developed side-scrolling action RPG from 1986, has been announced launching this year via Switch JP eShop.
Here’s a description of the game:
Knither is the sequel to Demon Crystal. The gameplay is similar—collect keys to open locked areas, find the big key and then the exit, only now you also have to collect three passwords per world, otherwise you cannot advance to the next world. In addition to the fire ball, there’s also thunder sword, wave of fire, cracker and spark flash, which kills all enemies on screen. The game features 5 worlds with 10 stages each, plus the last stage where you battle the witch, for a total of 51 stages.
