The internal project name that Nintendo used for the development of Mario Kart World has been found, NintendoSoup can confirm after verifying various materials for the game.
The codename for Mario Kart World is “Drive”. The “Drive” codename given to Mario Kart World aligns with internal project names for past entries, such as “Dash” for Mario Kart 7, “Turbo” for Mario Kart 8, and “Charger” for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Booster Course Pass.
We can also confirm that “U-King-O” and “EX-King-O” are the codenames for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, though this shouldn’t really come as a surprise as both codenames are based on their original codenames for the Switch versions of the game.
The “O” appended at the back represents “Ounce”, the internal codename for Nintendo Switch 2 that was leaked in 2024. The internal codename for Nintendo Switch is “NX”.
