It looks like the timeless Super Mario Bros. theme has now achieved yet another milestone in human history.
The Library of Congress announced today that 25 recordings representing some of the “defining sounds of the nation’s history and culture” have been added to its National Recording Registry. As it turns out, one of these 25 tracks added is the Super Mario Bros. tune – making it the first ever video game track to make it into the historic registry.
For now, it’s unclear if more videogame tunes will join the Super Mario Bros. theme in this hall of fame. We’ll just have to wait and see what next year’s additions look like.
What do you think? What other video game tunes would you like to see recognized by the Library of Congress? Feel free to share below!
