The Super Mario Galaxy Movie BBFC Rating May Include Major Spoiler
The British Board for Film Classification (BBFC) has published its rating for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and potentially spoils a major plot point for the film.
The film has been given a rating of PG (Parental Guidance) due to rating 1 or 2 points on a number of factors, including Violence, Threat and Horror, Rude Humor, and Themes. The rating also elaborates a bit about why the film was scored this way in each factor, which is where the potential spoiler comes from.
For fans who may not want to be spoiled, we will talk about it past the Spoiler Warning below.

Under “Themes”, the board notes that the film contains “Infrequent very mild upsetting scenes include flashbacks to the separation of a girl and her younger sister”. Fans of the Super Mario series believe that this line is referring to Princess Rosalina and Princess Peach, and implies that they are sisters in the film’s universe. Rosalina and Peach being sisters has been a longstanding fan-theory within the community, and many are ecstatic that it might finally be canon for one iteration of the characters.
Of course, we caution readers to take this theory with a grain of salt, as the line does not mention the two characters by name at all. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
