The Way Bananas And Shells Are Used In Mario Kart World Has Significantly Changed

Nintendo has made a significant change to the way items are used in Mario Kart World, something which fans of the series should take note of.

In Mario Kart World, a banana peel, Koopa shell, or Bob-omb in the first slot is automatically deployed to the back of your vehicle. What this means is that you don’t have to press and hold the X button to keep a banana peel, Koopa shell, or Bob-omb behind your kart to defend yourself from incoming attacks.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and past entries, these items are held in your hand and you have to press and hold the X button in order to deploy them behind your vehicle.

This change limits the way a banana peel, Koopa shell, or Bob-omb can be used. For example, if you were planning to use a Red Koopa shell to attack someone ahead of you, but the Red Koopa shell is destroyed because you were attacked by something from behind, you can’t use it anymore.
