On this day three years ago (July 11, 2015 Japan Time), Nintendo’s fourth President and Global CEO, Satoru Iwata, passed away due to a bile duct complication.
Iwata’s sudden death came as a shock to the entire world, as it was right after a successful operation to get rid of a tumor. Nintendo fans and gamers all over the globe were saddened by his loss.
Still, Satoru Iwata’s contributions to the video game industry and society as a whole continue to be remembered and celebrated by gamers all over the world. He was involved in the development of Nintendo Switch and thus indirectly helped propel Nintendo back to success after his passing.
