Unsatisfied Pokemon Go fans launching Lawsuit against Niantic’s Disastrous Pokemon Go Fest

A group of unhappy Pokemon Go fans were not content with Niantic’s handling of the disastrously held Pokemon Go Fest in Grant Park. Unsatisfied with Niantic’s resolution to the solution, they have decided to launch a lawsuit against Niantic.

While some may see them as taking advantage of an unfortunate incident, their dissatisfactions were not exactly misplaced as some of them actually paid good money to travel for the event, some even for Japan.

From a report by Polygon (link):

“We’re not seeking any relief with respect to the failure to get legendary Pokémon, because Niantic is offering that. But Niantic is not offering to refund people’s travel expenses for coming to Chicago. Most of the people came from out of state, many people from other countries — I talked to someone who flew in from Japan.

The issue is, what was promised, what was the incentive that people relied on and the representations that people relied on to buy a ticket and make travel plans and fly to Chicago to participate in this festival, would they have done that had they known that that was not going to be lived up to and they weren’t going to get the experience that was represented?”

When asked if Niantic has any comments on the pending lawsuit, they only have this to say:

“Niantic does not comment on pending legal matters.”

Hopefully, Niantic could find an amicable out-of-court settlement to satisfy the few uncontented fans who paid quite a hefty sum to be there for the world’s first official Pokemon Go fest.
