It looks like the world of digital gaming has been dealt another blow, especially for 3DS owners.
As of the time of writing, a number of DSiWare titles have reportedly been deactivated on the 3DS eShop in North America – meaning that they are no longer available for purchase. These deactivations include the classic Shantae: Risky’s Revenge (a quick look at the eShop confirms that the title is “currently unavailable” as seen below).
Here are other DSiWare titles that fans have also reported being deactivated recently:
Currently, it is unknown if this was intentional by Nintendo – or if this was a possible mistake.
Nevertheless, a number of these games may have just disappeared for good, unless their developers decide to port them elsewhere. If you’ve been thinking of exploring the DSiWare library on the 3DS eShop, you may want to do so soon – before more of it perishes like this.
