Fans of the original disc-slinging sports title are surely excited for the upcoming sequel Windjammers 2, but how exactly will it be expanding on the first game’s experience?
Speaking with Kotaku, one of the game’s developers Jordi Asensio shed some light on their goals for the sequel. According to Asensio, they wanted to create something that would stand out from other retro-remakes that have come out in recent years.
To achieve this, they chose a new visual hand-drawn visual style and added a host of new gameplay mechanics and moves. In doing so, the team hopes to build upon the original arcade experience while also keeping what made it great in the first place.
It’s Windjammers but it’s more fast-paced than the original. Not by speed but because you have more moves you have more decisions to make in the same amount of time.
While there is currently no set release date, Windjammers 2 is set to launch sometime in 2019.
