Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Will Not Support amiibo

In Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, there was a mode called Collection Mode, which could be accessed by using various amiibo figures.

This mode does not seem to be returning to Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch. The official Japanese website for the game states that the Switch version does not support amiibo, and neither will Collection Mode make a return:
