Nintendo Switch owners have made an interesting observation on the performance of the Youtube app for Nintendo Switch.
Reddit user dupebulja has reported that 60 fps (frame rate per second) videos have consistently dropped frames in Handheld Mode. This affects AV1 codec videos more than VP9 (although both are affected), and it happens more often in 1080p than 720p.
Dupebulja also noted that there’s no issue with playing videos in 30 fps. You can test it out yourself on the Youtube app by selecting “More” on the left while playing a video, and then choosing “Stats for Nerds”.
